After his university studies, Mr. Hermann became a senior government officer for the Fiscal Authority Office for the German federal state of Hesse.

Founding Partner of the law partnership Areas of specializationFollowing the completion of his studies, legal clerkship and employment as an Assistant Lecturer at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Mr. Hermann accepted a position as an attorney for a large international law firm. In 1979 he entered into a high-ranking civil service position at the Fiscal Authority Office (Finanzverwaltung) where he completed training at the German Federal Finance Academy (Bundesfinanzakademie).
As an attorney, certified public account and tax counselor, Mr. Hermann intensely deals with refinancing, restructuring and liquidation of companies and corporate groups. In 1986 already he is appointed as an Insolvency Administrator. Ottmar Hermann has comprehensive experience in Insolvency Proceeding settlement matters of all sizes, particularly in the continuation of medium-sized companies.
The careful, precise preparation and the prompt execution of the insolvency proceeding is part of his essential tasks. His maxim is highest reliability, transparency and a clear concept for resolving complex corporate challenges and problems under bankruptcy law. This is a function with a high degree of responsibility, requiring a multitude of professional and personal competency.
By virtue of his many years of professional experience, Mr. Hermann enjoys the confidence of numerous clients from all types of business and banking areas. In particular, he is valued as a most competent advisor in complex reorganization consultations.
German and international Tax Law is another additional element within the fields of activity of Mr. Hermann’s Commercial Law practice. In this matter he is involved with the auditing and preparation of annual financial statements and provides commercial and general fiscal advice. He already has represented many clients before the German tax authorities and tax courts. He has held numerous lectures as well as published legal journal articles. Mr. Hermann is a Member of the Advisory Board of the German Journal for Commercial and Insolvency Law (Deutsche Zeitschrift für Wirtschafts- und Insolvenzrecht or DZWiR). Only recently Ottmar Hermann published an article in Financier Worldwide about turnarounds in the automotive sector (see publications).

Miscellaneous EngagementsAs an Attorney-at-Law, Certified Public Accountant and Tax Counselor, in 2002 Mr. Hermann directed the reform of Insolvency Law for the Bosnian Federation and the Republic of Srpska on behalf of the Association for Technical Co-operation (Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit, GTZ) and the German Federal Ministry of Economics for which he also conducted corresponding negotiations with representatives of the World Bank.
Furthermore in the year 2004 he has participated in the training of insolvency administrators and judges in the scope of the “TACIS Project” of the EU on location in the Russian Federation. He currently participates in another GTZ mandate for the consultation of the Serbian Privatisation Agency.
For INSOL Europe Mr. Fritz maintains contacts to Eastern European and Russian insolvency administrators, for example in the form of the organisation of the first European/Russian insolvency professional’s congress in St. Petersburg. Memberships
